Chocolate PBB&J Smoothie

Quick, easy, delicious, protein- & phytonutrient packed…. yup that’s how I like to kick off my first meal of the day!

Natural nut butters are a great source of healthy fats, protein, fiber and other nutrients like potassium, phosphorus in this organic, creamy peanut butter.  Legumes like peanuts are an important part of a plant-based diet.

Read labels carefully to select an almond milk that’s unsweetened (yes even chocolate can be!), fortified with Vitamin D, calcium and free of additives and preservatives.  Same for nut butters; read ingredient lists to find one without added sugars or pro-inflammatory processed oils.

Buying healthy fats like nut butters in glass is a great strategy to cut down on possible exposure to toxins found in plastics (like BPA).

Ingredients:

8 oz unsweetened chocolate almond milk

1 banana, frozen

1 cup strawberries, frozen & organic

2 Tbsp peanut butter

Directions:

Add all ingredients to blender, starting with liquid

Blend & enjoy!

Makes 1, 16 oz serving
